Squad: DIY

Lisa Nelsen-Woods is a freelance writer and instructional designer, a DIY blogger at Condo Blues, speaker, green gal, traveler, dog mom, crafter, & food blogger at Lazy Budget Chef . Lisa uses everything from a sewing machine to a jackhammer to make her condo stylish and energy efficient on a budget because the green community told her she couldn’t so she proved she could by reducing her home energy bill by 32% with new habits, creative reuse, and less than $200 in energy efficient home improvements – new light bulbs. Lisa quickly found that DIY isn’t always as simple as they show on TV. Often you hit a snag that makes you sing the blues. Lisa tries to tell you what went wrong, how to avoid it, and how to fix it so your project turns out better than you imagined! Lisa taught DIY classes at The Craftsman Experience in Chicago.

Lisa and her projects have been featured in The New York Times, This Old House magazine, The Columbus Dispatch, WBNS 10TV News, Apartment Therapy’s Best of Creative Reuse, Craftsman Tools, and shares recipes as The Lazy Budget Chef on the Good Day Columbus morning television show. In 2008 Lisa won a Twitter Shorty Award as a member of the Green Mom’s Carnival. When she isn’t covered in sawdust or eating all of the things, Lisa is spending quality time with her husband and covered in kisses from her rescue dog Lacey because Lacey cannot hold her licker.
